HDI Global Insurance Company (HGIC), the U.S. subsidiary of HDI Global SE (HDI), has appointed 35-year industry veteran Thomas Long as U.S. Claims Manager.
In his new role, Long will be based at the company’s U.S. headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. He will report to Marco Hensel, Director of Underwriting, HGIC.
He joins HDI Global Insurance from Arch Insurance Group, where he most recently served as Assistant Vice President – Construction.
Prior to Arch, he worked at QBE North America, where he served as a Senior Underwriter.
As head of U.S. casualty, Long will oversee the development and execution of U.S. casualty strategy. It will also play a key role in helping to drive growth across the sector.
Throughout his career spanning more than 35 years, Long has held a wide variety of senior underwriting and management positions and has extensive experience in both traditional and alternative risk market sectors.
In addition, Long also has extensive expertise in workers’ compensation, general liability, and commercial auto liability, as well as group captives and other alternative risk structures. All of this will play a crucial role in the continued expansion of HDI’s accident insurance offering.
